How it’s built
- Layout
- Inside a white rounded page panel, huge black high-contrast serif words occupy most of the field in stacked lines. Multiple photographs of people, homes and landscape overlap the letterforms at different sizes, with one central handshake image largest and smaller images scattered around it. A tiny centered mark and menu sit at the top. The soft-focus forest outside the inset is gallery framing; the still does not establish page attribution for it.
- Type
- Oversized editorial serif uppercase title, extremely large relative to the page; small restrained top identity/menu. The title is intentionally interrupted by overlaid photos. Exact typeface/metrics unknown.
- Color and surface
- Warm white page and black typography; varied photographic colors. Blurred green outer surround is not assumed to be page color or CSS.
- Components
- Top identity/menu, enormous title lettering, layered photo collage and rounded page boundary.
What makes it work
- Oversized editorial headline as the background structure
- Multiple overlapping photos at varied scales
- Visible image/text occlusion as a deliberate compositional relation
- Small peripheral navigation
On a new subjectFor a city science festival, place a huge editorial festival heading across a clean page and layer documentary images of experiments, visitors and venues over the words at varied scales. Keep navigation peripheral; replace housing/opportunity content while retaining the deliberate text/photo overlap.
